Enrollment Information
• Possess a current certificate to practice as an EMR, EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic, or possess a license to practice as an RN.
• Have at least five-years experience as an EMR, EMT, AEMT, Paramedic or RN in the preceding seven years.
• Pass a written exam that demonstrates a level of knowledge in emergency medical services that’s consistent with the individual’s certificate to practice – RN's must pass a paramedic-level exam
• Pass a practical skills exam for their level of certification.

**If you have passed the NREMT within the last 3 years you do not need to take the knowledge exam.

** Practical skills exams may be taken at COEMST. The fee is $75.00
Curricula Requirements
• 40 hours in instruction of adult students and basic teaching techniques
• 8 hours in instruction specific to the field of study (EMS)
• 10 hours of supervised teaching
• 2 hours toward completion of the techniques exam
Blended-Learning/Hybrid courses blend online and face-to-face classroom instruction. Students participate in face-to-face classroom instruction with an instructor and other course activities online.

*The web assisted-hybrid course requires physical attendance in the classroom to complete lab / practical skills, Module exams and the Final exam.
*Attendance is approximately 14 times throughout the 4 month program on a Tuesday or Thursday evening class.
*Students are required to complete clinical time in the pre-hospital environment at a department or agency that has an affiliation agreement with the program. *These agencies are generally located within a 60-mile radius of the program campus.

-ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY PRE-REQUISITE
Students must complete an Anatomy and Physiology course as a prerequisite for admission into the Paramedic program. Students who have already completed the course should submit transcript showing a grade "C" or above. Students who have not already completed an A&P course may enroll in the COEMST program. Our program consists of 45 hours of video content. Students are required to complete worksheets and other assignments.
The course will be held online from July 2023 through August 2023.
